Inspirational story – the business of success
Nils is a founding partner in Connectum, a financial services company. Prior to founding the firm with Richard in 2002, he had seen the many faces of the financial services industry, among other as financial and strategic adviser to Edinburgh Fund Managers PLC and responsible for their establishment in Norway, as a private client himself and as an adviser to families and institutions in Norway, and many other countries.
Nils has worked as an independent financial and strategic adviser since 1991. For him it is all about understanding what clients want their wealth to do for them, devising a simple yet effective plan to achieve that and ensuring they stay on track.
Despite losing both legs as a result of a hit-and-run accident during his first year at Heriot-Watt University, Nils completed his BA Hons in Business Organisation, on time, among the top ten in his year. He later completed an MBA at Strathclyde Graduate Business School.
in 1996 Nils founded Momentum – the Norwegian Limbless Association, with Princess Märtha Louise as its patron, to inspire and support other amputees and their families in overcoming disability. He also puts energy into being President of the Watt Club Norway for Norwegian Heriot-Watt Alumni and is a co-founder of the International Confederation of Amputee Associations and now elected to the Board as President.
When he’s not looking after his clients, Nils enjoys classical music and opera in particular, and enjoys staying fit through strength training, cross country skiing, swimming and sailing and hunting. In recognition of his outstanding achievement within investment management and his philanthropic work helping others to overcome disability he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Finance from Heriot-Watt.
